Privacy Policy
This policy explains how MORTAL collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you visit wearemortal.com and sign up to our waitlist. We are committed to handling your data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
MORTAL is operated from the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller responsible for your personal data.
If you have any questions about how we handle your data, you can contact us at:
- Email: ronnie@wearemortal.com or james@wearemortal.com
2. What data we collect and why
When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address. We collect this for one purpose only: to contact you when early access to the Guide becomes available and before the paid pilot opens.
We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or any other personal information through this process. We do not build a profile about you or use your data for advertising.
3. The lawful basis for processing
We process your email address on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR). By entering your email address and clicking "Join the waitlist," you are giving us your explicit consent to contact you with updates about MORTAL and the Guide.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at the email addresses above and we will delete your data promptly.
4. How long we keep your data
We will hold your email address until one of the following happens:
- We have contacted you with the early access invitation you signed up for, and a reasonable follow-up period has passed.
- You ask us to delete it. We will act on such a request within 30 days.
- We conclude that the Guide will not launch, in which case we will delete all waitlist data and notify you.
We will not hold your data indefinitely. If significant time passes without a launch, we will review the list and delete data where we have no reasonable expectation of contacting you imminently.
5. Who we share your data with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may use a third-party email service provider to send you the notification you signed up for. If we do, that provider will process your email address only on our instructions and under a data processing agreement that requires them to keep it secure and use it only for the purpose we specify.
We will not share your email address with any other third party without your explicit consent, unless required to do so by law.
6. International transfers
We aim to store and process your data within the UK and European Economic Area (EEA). If we use a service provider that processes data outside these areas, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) before any transfer takes place.
7. How we protect your data
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Our website is served over HTTPS. Waitlist data is stored securely and access is limited to the people who need it to fulfil the purpose described above.
8. Cookies and tracking
This website does not currently use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. No third-party tracking scripts are loaded. If this changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Access. You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification. You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure. You can ask us to delete your data ("the right to be forgotten").
- Restriction. You can ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Portability. You can ask for your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Objection. You can object to our processing your data where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent. You can withdraw the consent you gave when joining the waitlist at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ronnie@wearemortal.com or james@wearemortal.com. We will respond within one calendar month.
10. Right to complain
If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
- Website: ico.org.uk
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
We would, however, appreciate the opportunity to address any concerns directly before you contact the ICO — please reach out to us first.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the changes significantly affect how we process your data, and we have a means to do so, we will notify you directly.
